Friday Update for December 8 2017
All,
A couple items this week:
- The roundabout project at Grant Ave/Walnut Lane has been paved and the last things needed will be the signage and striping which will occur next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Overall, the project looks really good and it should be operational by the end of next week. Westbound lanes remain closed but Easbound is wide open. The contractors on the project have done an amazing job in cutting overall closure time from 6 to just 3 weeks.
- Last night, Yolo County held a planning workshop in regards to cannabis cultivation and manufacturing in County areas. It was a fascinating meeting, filled mostly with representatives of the cannabis industry (mostly growers). The tone and content of the meeting was excellent and the growers brought some really good information for use in developing the regulatory framework. Kudos to Supervisor Don Saylor, the County Administrative Office and County Planning for an extremely positive and informative workshop.
- The Downtown Parking Committee workshop was postponed due to the illness of one of the key consultants. We will avoid the holiday season and reconvene a meeting in January.
- Congratulations to Winters Mayor Wade Cowan and his wife Kathy who were named the 2017 Citizens of the Year. They are very deserving recipients for all they do including the Tractor Parade, Duck Race, Youth Day, Chamber of Commerce, Schools, Little League, Project Playground, Christmas tree, etc, etc, etc.
Have a nice week.
John
