On November 16, 2021, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2021-77 creating the Climate Action Commission, establishing its mission, and setting forth membership and meeting requirements.
The Climate Action Commission (the “Commission”) shall perform the following functions:
- Act as an advisory body to the City Council related to the implementation of the Climate Action Plan, and relevant regulatory and scientific research; and
- Serve as a body of technical expertise in the area of climate change to City staff and the community; and
- Develop and implement public information programs related to increasing awareness of and promoting the need to reduce climate impacts, such as developing a speakers’ bureau on topics and assisting with disseminating public information.
- Assist with supporting staff as a “force multiplier” for staff assigned projects and program areas related to mitigating the effects of climate change by conducting research, preparing reports, and developing recommendations; and,
- Prepare an annual work plan for Council consideration, listing previous year accomplishments and goals for the coming year
